Taraneh Maghamé is an internationally recognized IP lawyer, licensing and litigation expert and business leader with 30+ years of combined in-house and lawfirm experience. She has served in management roles and as in-house counsel at Apple, HP/Compaq, Via Licensing (a subsidiary of Dolby Labs) and Tessera Technologies. Ms. Maghame is widely acknowledged as one of the industry's foremost experts in technology standards matters, including licensing, litigation and policies involving standard essential patents.
Prior to her in-house roles, Ms. Maghamé practiced law at distinguished global firms, including Brobeck, Phleger and Harrison, and Perkins Coie. She regularly managed teams of attorneys in high stakes IP and commercial litigation matters in US federal courts, International Trade Commission and foreign jurisdictions, and has served as legal advisor to management and board of directors of major technology companies.
Ms. Maghamé has deep expertise in strategic corporate IP licensing, M&A and multijurisdictional transactions involving Fortune 500 companies across the US, China, Japan, Korea and Europe. She has a successful track record in collaborative licensing, including creating wireless technology licensing programs with major global partners and closing joint and bilateral high-value licensing deals.
Ms. Maghamé is also a highly regarded thought leader on IP policy matters and advisor to international regulatory bodies and industry organizations. Her government relations and policy expertise includes serving as a member of the European Commission’s Expert Group on Licensing and Valuation of Standard Essential Patents. She continues to serve as a trusted advisor to policymakers and was a co-founder of the Innovation Alliance, an advocacy organization established in 2007 to advance the interests of patent holders before government and regulatory bodies across the globe. She has testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee and the Federal Trade Commission regarding patent law and policy matters and has extensive media and public relations experience.
Ms Maghamé has been included in the IAM 300 World’s Leading IP Strategists for multiple years and is a frequent speaker on IP topics before business and professional audiences globally. She is a graduate of Georgetown University Law Centre and admitted to practice in California and Washington State and before the USPTO.
